The "Dongzhongwen" team accepted an invitation from the Quality Education Foundation to attend the "Teaching & Learning Expo 2018" on December 14, 2018. At the K-12 seminar, they presented "Teaching Materials and Instructional Design to Help Non-Chinese Speakers Learn Chinese - 'Dongzhongwen' Smart Vocabulary Flashcards (Project No.: 2014/0033)," introducing the origins and evolution of the "Dongzhongwen" project to teachers. They also demonstrated and arranged for participants to use the "Dongzhongwen" learning software on their mobile phones. Attendees included teachers and administrators from secondary and primary schools. Some teachers showed great interest in the operation of the "Dongzhongwen e-learning platform" and how it helps in second language learning, and inquired further.
The mLang Scheme, implemented from June 2015 to May 2017, aims to utilize information technology, such as tablet applications popular among young people, and combine it with concepts such as mobile learning, holistic learning, and Chinese as a second language learning to create appropriate teaching materials. The goal is to help non-Chinese speaking students learn Chinese more effectively (including literacy, listening, speaking, reading, and writing), develop self-learning abilities, enhance learning motivation and attitudes towards learning Chinese, so that students can have more and better opportunities for further education and employment, and better integrate into Hong Kong society.
