Support Scheme for Secondary Two Non-Chinese Speaker Students Learning Chinese History

Provision of Services on Professional Support Scheme for S.2 NCS students studying Junior Secondary Chinese History

In his 2017 Policy Address, the Chief Executive proposed making Chinese history an independent compulsory subject in junior secondary schools, so that non-Chinese speaking students could also deepen their understanding of Chinese history and culture through studying Chinese history.

In the 2020/21 academic year, the Education Bureau commissioned the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong to provide support services to junior secondary schools that admit non-Chinese speaking students, which was well received by the participating schools.

The decision was made to continue this support program for the 2021/22 academic year. The "Professional Support Program for Secondary Non-Chinese Language Students Learning Chinese History" (hereinafter referred to as "the Program") will be undertaken by Dynamic Chinese Solutions Co., Ltd. The program team members will remain the same, and the e-learning elements will be strengthened to further support Secondary 2 non-Chinese language students in learning Chinese history.

This program aims to provide professional support services to help non-Chinese speaking students learn secondary Chinese history. The team provides on-site support services to pilot schools, including classroom observation and professional advice on classroom language and teaching strategies. The team also conducts teacher professional development workshops and learning circle activities for participating pilot and online schools. To foster student interest, the program discusses various innovative teaching methods with teachers, including Chinese history language teaching, drama teaching, e-learning methods (such as mLang), and promotion of reading teaching, to help teachers improve teaching effectiveness.

Thank you to the local schools for their enthusiastic support; the pilot school is now full .
There are still a few spots available for the online school. If you are interested, please register immediately!
